DAIMLER TRUCK AND BUS BOSS STEPS DOWN

Head of Daimler Trucks and Buses Dr Wolfgang Bernhard has resigned, citing personal reasons for not extending his contract.

Bernhard notified chairman of the supervisory board, Dr Bischoff and the chairman of the board of management and Mercedes Benz boss Dr Dieter Zetsche of his intention to stand down.

He was relieved of his duties immediately with Zetsche taking over Daimler Trucks and Buses in the interim.

“We regret this resolution, but we have a number of outstanding managers to succeed. We thank Wolfgang Bernhard for his committed work and respect his personal decision,” Bischoff said.

Wolfgang Bernhard became Head of the Mercedes-Benz Vans division in 2009 and was appointed to the Board of Management of Daimler AG in February 2010.

Until March 2013, he was Board of Management Member for Production and Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars & Mercedes-Benz Van and since April 2013, he has been responsible for Daimler Trucks & Buses.

It was widely believed Bernhard was in the box seat to be Zetsche’s successor until the CEO’s contract was extended by three years.
