GRAND NEW CAMERON

Logistics company Glen Cameron Group has added a milestone 1,000th truck to its fleet.

The group was founded in 1975 with a single 8-tonne tray truck and has grown to a national transport company with more than 350 trucks on the road today.

Founder and director Glen Cameron took delivery of the 1,000th truck to carry the company’s colours at the Brisbane Truck Show last week – a new Mack Granite prime mover presented by vice president of Mack Trucks Australia Dean Bestwick.

Cameron says the new Mack will be used for urban deliveries in Melbourne and will cover around 50,000km/year.

“The new Mack replaces our 341st truck which we purchased in 2000 which was also a Mack that was driven by Michael Hydman for 17 years,” he said.

“Michael has been with me for over 30 years, but unfortunately recently was forced into retirement due to health problems. It is poetic to replace his hard-working Mack with a new one at this milestone purchase.

“I’m delighted and proud to get to 1,000 trucks. The Cameron Group has been in business now for 43 years and the only reason we have gotten so far is because we have employed good people and grown together.”
