GREAT SCOT! WHO IS VOORHOEVE’S REPLACEMENT

Peter Voorhoeve’s replacement as president of Volvo Group Australia will be Scotsman Martin Merrick who comes to the job after a 30 year career with Volvo.

Merrick began his Volvo career as a reception engineer  and brings a wide range of experience in sales, aftermarket and dealer management.

A Glaswegian and holder of a Volvo-sponsored MBA, he started his first job in 1988 at the company that imported Volvo trucks to Scotland at that time – Ailsa Trucks Northern Ltd.

Since then he has managed dealer points, sales teams, workshops and aftermarket departments and Volvo says he put the experience to good use in creating a customer-focused environment.

Volvo says Merrick’s successful career, from dealer service reception area, via the managing director’s office, to senior vice-president with global responsibilities, is testament to the emphasis that Volvo place, long term, on facilitating personal development through high standards of training and development of competencies.

Martin Merrick will also take up his new role on the 1st September following the move from his current position as senior vice president for retail development for Volvo Trucks

He has spent the last two years based in Gothenburg where was part of the company’s executive management team, reporting directly to Volvo Trucks’ president, Claes Nilsson.
