MAXI-DEAL FOR MAXITRANS

MaxiTrans has been awarded one of the most lucrative trailer contracts, signing an agreement to supply Coles with 395 Maxi-Cube and Freighter trailers.

The trailers will be primarily used in New South Wales and Western Australia, and all built in MaxiTrans’ Ballarat factory with many of the components coming from its Hallam plant.

According to managing director and CEO Dean Jenkins, the contract is a major coup for the Australian manufacturing industry.

“Coles’ decision to buy Australian-made is not only a vote of confidence that our existing 950 employees build a world-class product, but it will also help to generate more than 100 new jobs over the life of the contract,” Jenkins said.

Tony O’Toole, Coles’ transport boss says the company is always striving to use local suppliers.

“We’re proud that deliveries to our stores will be made using trailers produced right here in Victoria,” he said.

It is believed the contract is worth approximately $60 million.
