PENSKE DISCOVERS THE EXTERNAL MARKET

Penske Commercial Vehicles is celebrating the finalisation of a fleet deal with GTS Freight Management based out of Mildura, Victoria.

With 10 new MAN TGX-D38s on order, Truck and Bus News believes this is the single largest order in 2017 for a customer outside the Penske Group.

GTS Freight Management trialled a MAN TGX‐D38 following the launch the launch of the flagship model late last year.

According to managing director of GTS Freight Management, Damien Matthews the new model is perfectly suited to the company’s requirements.

“Our drivers have been very complimentary of the D38’s ride which, when coupled with the truck’s impressive performance and cost effectiveness, has led to us placing an order to purchase 10 D38s,” he said.

“Safety is also paramount to our operations, so the safety features and driver assistance options offered on the D38 were also critical factors in our decision.

“And with the Penske Commercial Vehicles – Marshall Group partnership in Mildura, we will have local support for our fleet which is important for the long term.”

The TGX-D38 features a 15.2L six-cylinder common rail engine rated at 560hp.

Penske Commercial Vehicles managing director Kevin Dennis welcomed the sales with open arms, and following the sub-standard sales over the past few years hopes the orders continue to come in.

“We have a long‐standing relationship with GTS Freight Management so once we launched the D38, we provided a demo model and the feedback was very positive,” Dennis said.

“The D38 offers great cost efficiency and high productivity which are key to the success of our customers.”
