COULD AUSTRALIA HAVE A WORLD DRIVERS CHAMPION – EVEN IF OSCAR DOESN’T WIN?

A European organisation has put out a call to what it calls the International driver community for the UICR Professional Driver World Championshiop, to be held on Germany in September next year.

UICR is the company organising the event which it describes as a” global showcase of professional driving excellence”  and says warmly invites drivers from around the world  is on the horizon – and we warmly invite you to put it on your editorial radar.

The event ios set to be held in Heidelberg in German from the  9th to the 12th  September next year and will bring together the most skilled commercial drivers from every corner of the world to compete across a range of tests requiring precision, ECO-driving, and a full suite of real-world operational tasks that reflect modern transport demands.

UICR claims this is the only world championship dedicated entirely to professional commercial drivers and will showcase driver skill, operational safety, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.

The organisers claim it offers international benchmarking and highlights the growing global focus on driver professionalism.

It slso says it will support driver recruitment, retention, and industry pride topics which it says are at the heart of every transport operation .

In addition it is  encourage nations including our own here in Australia to help mobilise the  national transport sector and to send a team

“We would like to invite your country’s professional drivers, associations, driving schools, fleets, and transport operators to create a national team and participate in the PDWC26,” the organisation said.

“Many countries are already preparing their teams and hopes that interest can be the sparked outside Europe to motivate driversto get involved and represent their nation on the world stage.

The UICR says its major goal is to uphold the honour of professional driving worldwide and to see the global benchmark for safety, skill, and responsibility.

The organisation claims to representing more than 1.8 million professional drivers across every continent, and is the a global organisation dedicated to excellence in professional driving  acroiss the globe.

UICR says its work is built on five core pillars, including, road safety and driver wellbeing, driver  certification and lifelong learning, respect and responsibility on the road, environmental sustainability and eco-driving and to promote and organise the Professional Drivers World Championship (PDWC) every two years.

Interestingly australia is currently not listed as being a member of the UICR which is an acrony that stands for the Union Internationale des Chauffeurs Routiers, and is claimed to be the largest International professional drivers association, through its federation of 28 affiliated professional driver associations, and it says it is the  NGO that is the “voice of the Professional Driver”.

The UICR says its aim is to bring together national associations of professional drivers at the national and international level, to represent or assert the rights of the professional driver at national and international institutions and to improve the training of professional drivers, thereby improving road safety.
