DTNA ANOUNCES MAJOR EXECUTIVE SHAKE UP

DAIMLER Trucks North America has  announced a major re shuffle of  its key executives with current sales and marketing vice president Richard Howard moving to the role of president and a position on the board of Daimler Truck Financial Services.

Richard Howard’s move has prompted the appointment of current senior vice-president of vocational sales and marketing, David Carson to the role of senior vice-president of sales and marketing for DTNA.

DTNA says the move consolidates responsibility for all sales and marketing of vocational and on-highway segments.

David Carson will assume the responsibilities held by Richard Howard, while Drew Backeberg, who is the current vice president of dealer sales for the on-highway segment, being appointed as senior vice-president of aftermarket and will join the company’s operating committee as a result.

“I’d like to thank Richard Howard for his incredible leadership of our sales and marketing organisation these past years and I am thrilled to have David Carson expand his responsibility to include the entirety of the Freightliner and Western Star portfolios,” said DTNA president and CEO John O’Leary.

“David’s experience leading several large pieces of our company, combined with an unwavering focus on delivering for our dealers and customers alike has earned him a high degree of regard among employees and our business partners.”

David Carson’s current role leading Daimler’s Western Star truck brand, which he has held since  2017,

was expanded in 2019 to lead of the whole DTNA vocational segment.

Prior to this, Carson was in charge of Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp (FCCC), where he oversaw engineering, operations and sales and marketing. He also previously served as the general manager of human resources at DTNA.

Richard Howard has been with Daimler Trucks for seven years but has been with Daimler much longer in car division roles.
