The Australian Trucking Association has announced the launch of nominations for its Future Leaders Forum (FLF), along with a new major sponsor for the program in Volvo Group Australia, with the Brisbane based Swedish truck brand joining global telematics provider Geotab as a major supporter of the program.
The ATA described its FLF is a professional development program targeted at future leaders of the trucking industry aged 21 to 40, with nominations accepted annually from the ATA’s member associations and its safety management arm, TruckSafe.
The Association said that the program helps graduates become effective advocates for key industry priorities including safety, sustainability, profitability and professionalism by equipping them with the skills and knowledge to strengthen their leadership, media engagement and advocacy capabilities.
The program has built an alumni network of almost 80 industry leaders and is now entering its eighth year. It added that two of its successful applicants have progressed into executive and non-executive leadership roles across ATA member associations, regulatory agencies and transport-related businesses.
The FLF program won the prestigious LearnX Platinum Award for Best Learning and Talent Development in the industry-specific leadership development category in 2024.
“We are excited to build on our longstanding partnership with Volvo as they join us in securing a resilient future for Australia’s trucking industry,” said the ATA’s director of marketing and partnerships, Bianca D’Rosario.
“Together we are supporting the next generation and beyond, through the ATA’s professional development program and Volvo’s innovation in emission-reducing technologies,” D’Rosario said.
Volvo Group’s vice president for people, culture, and health and safety Jane Humphreys said that the Group is thrilled to be working with, and investing in future leaders in the industry.
“Volvo Group Australia has its sights firmly set on the future of transport, mobility and manufacturing and we are incredibly passionate about developing industry talent,” Humphreys said.
“Our continued partnership with the ATA along with our sponsorship of the Future Leaders Forum, will serve to strengthen our relationship with an industry, that all our livelihoods rely on,” she added.
