Mercedes-Benz has announced that major Mildura based freight company, GTS Freight Management has added seven of its new Actros models to its fleet.
GTS is a large scale operation and regularly loads 500 trailers each day, covering more than three million kilometres every month and said that it decided to purchase the new Mercedes-Benz trucks after a positive experience with six Mercedes-Benz 2658 models which it added to the fleet close to two years ago.
GTS Freight Management’s managing director, Damien Matthews this time around has selected the range-topping 2663 Actros model.
Daniel Whitehead, Daimler Truck Australia Pacific’s president and CEOsaid that it was fantastic to see more Actros trucks hit the road in GTS colours.
Whitehead posed the rhetorical question “how good does the Actros look in the black GTS colour scheme?”
“We are thrilled to have our trucks be part of the amazing success story of GTS, with its embrace of cutting-edge technology across its warehouses and its trucks,” Whitehead said.
The new GTS Actros 2663 models were delivered by Daimler Trucks Mildura and were handed over by Daimler Truck Australia Pacific head of retail fleet sales, Barry Smith. The new GTS trucks are fitted with Mercedes’ 630hp OM 473 16-litre six-cylinder mated to a 12-speed PowerShift automated manual transmission (AMT).
Damien Matthews said the Actros trucks that GTS added to its fleet in 2024 had done the job well, something that made it easy to order the next batch.
“The driver acceptance has been excellent and those Actros trucks have done everything we wanted from them, especially when it comes to comfort, economy and safety,” Matthews said.
“The Mercedes-Benz product is also known for its high level of active safety features and that is critically important to our 
company given that keeping people safe is at the heart of everything we do at GTS,” he said.
Daimler Truck’s, vide president of marketing and operations, Andrew Assimo, said Mercedes-Benz Trucks was excited to continue its partnership with GTS Freight Management.
“GTS Freight Management has built up a reputation for its laser-sharp focus on delivering for its customers no matter what and we are thrilled to see the Mercedes-Benz Actros be part of it,” said Assimo.
