What used to be known as the Hannover Truck Show but which is now known as IAA Transportation, is again set to occur this September in Germany with the organisers spruiking a new special collaboration with both Germany’s MAN and Swedish truck maker Volvo , which will give visitors to Europe’s biggest truck expo = the chance to take test drive’s directly from the two manufacturer’s stands in Hall 11.
Organisers are promising that the biennial truck expo will again showcase an impressive range of innovations in commercial vehicle technology.
In particular they’re highlighting the new test Drive program, which they say gives visitors the chance to experience the latest, most efficient, and well connected transportation solutions firsthand.
Organisers are claiming the new test drive program has generated tremendous enthusiasm, and even greater demand than in the past, which is the reason why the Expo has been expanded even further this year.
They are claiming that the spotlight this year falls squarely on Hall 11 at the Hannover exhibition grounds, with a new concept hall that will give exhibitors MAN Truck and Bus as well as Volvo Trucks tenough floor space to offer visitors test drives straight from their stands, with each test drive launching directly out of the hall for maximum impact.
“With IAA Transportation 2026, we want to put the visitor experience front and center like never before, with more experience, more interaction, and a closer connection to the technology,” said VDA managing director, Jürgen Mindel.
“That’s what we’re striving for, and to give visitors and exhibitors even more flexibility,” said Mindel.
“Whether it’s an alternative or conventional powertrain, driving an MAN is always a special experience, and we are thrilled to offer visitors this opportunity right at our booth,” said MAN Truck and Bus’ vice president of marketing and communications, Sascha Jennewein.
“This new interactive driving concept makes visiting the IAA even more engaging we invite all visitors from the transport industry to Hall 11 to experience the latest technologies for the drive transition firsthand,” said Jennewein.
Managing director of Volvo Trucks Germany, Markus Weckesser said that real transformation comes from real experience and IAA Transportation 2026 gives customers ihe chance
to get hands-on with Volvo Trucks’ products and innovations.
“Test drives straight from our booth bring our latest vehicles with alternative drivetrains to life and offer a clear picture of where Volvo Trucks is taking the transportation of tomorrow,” said Weckesser,
Visitors will need a valid driver’s licence for the relevant vehicle class to take a test drive, and information on participating brands and vehicle models will be available closer top the expo through the IAA Transportation App.
Organisers are also telling us that additional test drives from a wide range of truck manufacturers will also take place in Halls 14/15 and Halls 19/20.
Thanks he test drives include two route options for a variety of driving experiences, including a closed test track on the exhibition grounds, which measures approximately two kilometres at the eastern section of the IAA grounds, which is suitable for both production vehicles and prototypes.
The test program will also include routes on public roads around Hannover with production vehicles leaving the exhibition grounds for testing in real-world traffic conditions, with the length and duration of each drive set individually by each exhibitor.
