DAF has announced it has launched the its new generation range of trucks, which the company claims  represents the most significant transformation of its product line in more than three decades.

The company tells us that the new generation has been designed from the ground up with new cab architecture, advanced safety technologies, better aerodynamics and greater driver comfort, and says that  it is far more than a styling update and delivers a new level of transport efficiency

DAF says the new generation range is available now through its dealer network across Australia.

Truckandbusnews.net.au will get the chance to drive the new generation range at a planned media day in Brisbane later this month and we will report back to readers on how the new trucks measure up and just how different they are from the previous range.

The  company says that the route to the new generation trucks started back in 2024 when it introduced the flagship DAF XG, which was the first DAF model to be built in Australia at Paccar’s  Bayswater plant.

Paccar claims that since being launched the XG has received positive feedback from customers and drivers, with reports of  strong fuel efficiency, driver satisfaction and productivity.

The company claims that Extensive local validation demonstrated that the all-new new cab design and advanced aerodynamics deliver real-world transport efficiency benefits.

The company is now introducing the XB, XD and XF to complete the new generation line-up, with the new range now comprising four models, each targeted at a broad segment of transport applications.

The range starts with the compact XB, which is  powered by a 7-litre engine,  and is designed for urban environments and city distribution.

The next step in the range is the 11-litre powered XD, which the company claims delivers flexibility across distribution and vocational applications.

Next up in the line up is the 13 litre XF,  which it says has been engineered for interstate freight and long-distance productivity.

The new XG leads  the range at the top of the DAF line up and is built in the Paccar Bayswater plant in Melbourne , powered by the co-badged Cummins-Paccar 15-litre engine.

The company claims that it has been designed to deliver the combination of long-haul efficiency, comfort and performance and that together, the new range provides a balance of capability, efficiency and productivity across almost every transport application.

Local boss of the Paccar organisation, managing director Damian Smethurst, said the new generation range is a significant milestone for Paccar Australia and demonstrates the ongoing commitment to delivering innovative transport solutions for Australian operators.

“The locally manufactured DAF XG and low-tare DAF XD, built at our Bayswater facility, combine global engineering excellence with Australian manufacturing expertise to deliver outstanding performance, efficiency and customer value,” Smethurst said.

“At the heart of the launch is DAF’s global New Generation DAF theme, ‘Powering your Success’, and it reflects DAF’s belief that great trucks should do more than transport freight,” he said.

“They should help improve customers’ profitability through maximised uptime, reduced operating costs and the ability to attract and retain skilled drivers,” Smethurst added.

Paccar’s director of sales and marketing said the new generation range enables it to provide customers with a transport solution for almost every application, from urban distribution through to interstate linehaul.

“The result is that customers can choose the right DAF vehicle, support package and transport solution to power their business success,” Molnar said.

“The New Generation DAF cab proven in the XG is now shared across the XD and XF, so the same driver comfort, visibility and fuel efficiency we’ve heard from XG operators now extends across the range, and that’s a significant advantage for Australian fleets,” he added.

Paccar points out that transport businesses today rely on attracting and retaining skilled drivers and that its new generation range delivers a first-class cab environment with spacious interiors, premium seating, intuitive controls, low noise levels and exceptional ride quality, and that by improving the overall driving experience, DAF helps operators improve productivity while supporting driver wellbeing.

The company also points to its safety which is  engineered into the new generation trucks, with enhanced direct vision, advanced driver assistance systems, intelligent camera technologies and active safety features work together to protect drivers, other road users and customers’ businesses, and the company claims the result is better confidence behind the wheel and safer operations across every application.

The company says the new XB has been designed specifically for urban and metropolitan operations and is powered by the Cummins co developed PX-7 engine with

up to 290hp and 1,090Nm of torque.

Paccar claims the XB combines exceptional manoeuvrability, low operating costs and outstanding driver visibility, and is available in day cab and sleeper cab configurations with 4×2 rigid variants,  making it perfectly suited to distribution, local government, construction, refuse and specialised vocational applications where agility and productivity are critical.

The company says that the mid-level  XD delivers versatility across metro and regional operations and has been purpose-built for distribution and vocational transport. Its powered by the DAF developed Paccar MX-11 engine with up to 450hp and 2,500Nm of torque.

The company says that the XD combines strong fuel efficiency, enhanced direct vision and great driver comfort, and is available in 6×2, 6×4 and 8×4 rigid and 6×4 prime mover variants. The various specs clearly make the XD  ideally suited to construction, tanker, tipper and intrastate transport applications where performance, safety and flexibility are required.

DAF says that its new generation XF has been  engineered for operators covering Australia’s demanding interstate freight routes.

The XF is powered by the DAF developed MX-13 engine producing up to 530hp and 2,700Nm of torque, again with strong fuel economy, long-haul comfort and proven reliability.

The XF is available in day cab, sleeper cab and sleeper high cab configurations, with 6×2, 6×4 and 8×4 rigid and 6×4 prime mover chassis options, the XF combines aerodynamic efficiency, advanced safety features and premium driver accommodation to maximise productivity across long-distance transport operations.

The company says that its  flagship XG prime mover represents the ultimate in long-haul transport efficiency.

The truck was specifically developed and built in Australia and as we mentio0ned earlier is powered by the co developed Cummins Paccar 15-litre PX-15 engine which produces 660hp and 3,200Nm of torque.

DAF claims that the XG delivers exceptional performance for high-productivity line-haul applications, as well as offering spacious premium cab, comfort, advanced aerodynamics, superior visibility and comprehensive safety package make it a true home away from home for drivers while delivering the productivity and efficiency demanded by modern transport businesses.

The company recently commenced a national roadshow to showcase the new generation DAF range, which started least month adn will run through to December.

The company says the new generation DAF Roadshow will travel to dealerships across Australia, to give customers the opportunity to see the entire range first hand.

DAF says that participants will be able to inspect the trucks up close, speak with DAF specialists, learn how the new  range can power their business success, and participate in demonstration drives.

It added that it believes the roadshow will provide operators, drivers and fleet managers with a unique opportunity to experience the next generation of transport efficiency in person.
