Leading logistics company Finemores, has become the first major fleet to add Mercedes-Benz new advanced ProCabin Actros to its operations.
According to Daimler Trucks Finemores was keen to add the new Mercedes-Benz model to its fleet, soon after its local launch and now has seen the first truck hit the road.
Daimler Truck Australia Pacific president and CEO, Daniel Whitehead said that Ron Finemore Transport’s focus on safety and efficiency is legendary within the industry, so the company knew it would be keen to get into the new Mercedes-Benz ProCabin.
“We’re also thrilled to hear the truck has been performing beyond expectations with efficiency and
that the advanced safety suite is also much appreciated,” Whitehead said.
Mercedes-Benz can rightly claim that the ProCabin delivers a significant fuel consumption reduction, something Truck and Bus News can testify to following a 300 km test drive in the ProCabin recently
Another factor for Finemores was that the ProCabin also benefits from a new five-radar active safety suite that has been introduced as standard across the whole Actros range.
James Dixon, the CEO at Ron Finemore Transport said that operating advanced Mercedes-Benz vehicles aligns with its focus of safety and efficiency.
“Ron Finemore Transport is proud to operate the safest, youngest and most modern fleet in Australia and we are committed to boosting efficiency, driving down emissions and adopting the safest vehicles that we can get our hands on,” Dixon said.
“It is still early on, but the ProCabin has already proven to be extremely efficient in its first month on the road. We are also extremely pleased that it features the Active Brake Assist 6 safety package because we are fully committed to the safety of our drivers and other road users,” he added.
Andrew Assimo, the vice president of sales, marketing and operations for Daimler Truck Australia Pacific said the Mercedes-Benz ProCabin is showcasing how design innovation can make a difference to operating costs.
“The ProCabin has only just launched and is already delivering real world savings for our customers,” Assimo said.
“Our customers are delighted because driving fuel costs down has never been more critical to business success,” he added.
Daimler Trucks Albury delivered the Ron Finemore Transport Actros, and the truck features a black Durabar bullbar that was developed with assistance from Mercedes-Benz engineers.
The Finemore Transport ProCabin Proudly wears the 2663 badge and features a 16-litre Mercedes-Benz engine teamed with a 12-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
Daimler says that all Actros models now feature the Active Brake Assist 6 safety package that now includes five radars providing a 270-degree view around the vehicle and allows for optimum operation of the Active Side Guard Assist 2 (ASGA) system.
The company adds that the backbone of this safety suite is a new electronics platform that can process data 20 times faster.
Daimler claims secret to the new ProCabin design is the removal of unwanted gaps and joins and the fact that it guides air either around the cabin or straight into the truck’s cooling system, adding that this concentration of the airflow maintains the cooling effectiveness of the Actros.
The company also points out that there are also new sail-shaped side air deflectors at the rear of the cabin and a new roof spoiler as well as a new under-cab spoiler. Along with the new exterior design, these features reduce air turbulence and improve air flow.
