FOTON TAKE OVER IN SA AND VIC – CHINESE ELECTRIC TRUCK BRAND SET TO TAKE OVER DISTIBUTION

Upstart, newcomer to the Australian zero emission truck business, Foton Mobility Distribution (FMD) has announced what it describes as a significant strategic shift for its Foton EV truck brand in Victoria and South Australia.

FMD has announced that effective 1 September, it will assume full responsibility for the sales and after-sales operations of all Foton EV trucks in both states.

Strangely Foton Mobility has only handled  the EV truck business in Australia while major vehicle distributor Sime Darby handles diesel light trucks and Utes.

According to Foton the announcement  marks the conclusion of its current distribution arrangement with Sustainable Vehicle Solutions (SVS) it says it is aimed at “strengthening FMD’s direct connection with customers while supporting the continued expansion of the Foton EV brand across Australia.”

CEO and founder of Foton Mobility Distribution, Neil Wang said the company’s greatly valued the work SVS has done in establishing the Foton Mobility brand over the past two years.

“As we look to the future, we’re excited to engage more directly with our customers in Victoria and South Australia—two of the fastest-growing markets for electric commercial vehicles,” said Wang

SVS is a subsidiary of the CMV Group, and  its joint managing director, Miles Crawford, said the company recognised the role SVS has played in introducing light duty electric trucks to the market and supporting customers in the transition to EV transport solutions across Victoria and South Australia.

“As the electric commercial vehicle market continues to evolve, we support FMD’s decision to engage directly with customers and are committed to ensuring a smooth and professional transition,”  Crawford said.

As parent company of  SVS, the CMV Group said that it remains committed to delivering world-class transport solutions as parent parent company of, SVS.

It said this included electric vehicles and says it will collaborate closely with FMD to ensure a smooth and professional transition over the coming weeks.

Both organisations say that together, they remain committed to supporting the shift toward a cleaner, more sustainable transport solutions across Australia.
