Volvo Trucks has celebrated a significant milestone in its storied history on Australia with the delivery of its 60,000th truck since the company started selling trucks here 60 years ago.

Major fleet, the Borg Group  took delivery of the milestone truck  as part of the celebrations of Volvo’s 60th anniversary in Australia with the company adding the eye-catching Diamond Edition FH16 780 GlobetraotterXL to its extensive fleet of Volvos.

Borg Group  directors Michael and Darren Borg took delivery of the new truck in a ceremony at the Volvo Group HQ at Wacol in Brisbane’s West last week.

Vice president of  sales and marketing for Volvo Trucks Australia, Tom Chapman said it was a proud moment in Australian manufacturing to see this truck delivered to another proud Australian manufacturer.

“Borg’s drive and innovation over the past 35 years have been inspiring, and it’s been a real privilege to see them grow from strength to strength.”  said  co-founder of Borg Group, Michael Borg,

“It’s a great privilege to receive Volvo’s 60,000th locally made truck, which is a milestone that speaks to more than 30 years of partnership built on trust, quality and shared values,” said Borg.

“We’ve grown together, and this moment is a testament to what long-term collaboration can achieve,” he added.

Borg says the milestone truck will be put to work hauling machinery and equipment to support its operations across the varying Borg businesses.

Volvo says the 780hp, 17 litre, 3800Nm prime mover is rated to 130 tons and is fitted with  a 13-speed I-Shift automated transmission,  as well as boasting Volvo’s Dynamic Steering and Pilot Plus automated cruise control.

The company points out that the striking “Diamond Edition” livery pays homage to six decades of Volvo in Australia while the interior features limited edition dark leather upholstery along with a 400 watt sound system with sub-woofer to keep the road tunes coming.

Volvo also naturally emphasised that  the truck is equipped  with a full suite of passive and active safety systems to protect both the driver and other road users.

Volvo Truck established its manufacturing facility at  Wacol in 1972 and  this has grown steadily over the last 53 years to become one of Australia’s largest vehicle manufacturing facilities and the company points out that every truck that leaves the Wacol plant proudly wears the Australian Made logo.
