Hino has revealed its line up for the upcoming Tokyo Mobility Show ( formerly the Tokyo Motor Show) at the end of this month telling the world that it is set to present a range of next-generation trucks at the upcoming Show.
The Tokyo Show kicks off on 30th October and is set to run through until the 9th November with Hino set to show its headlining Profia Z FCV Hydrogen Fuel Cell truck which it claims is Japan’s first mass-produced heavy-duty commercial fuel cell truck.
The Profia, which is virtually the same as the Hino 700 series as it is known here in Australia will see the new hydrogen fuel cell version released to the public the week before the show opens, with the new truck set to be launched on 24th October.
Daniel Petrovski, Hino Australia’s department manager for product strategy said the hydrogen fuel cell Profia is capable of a loaded driving range of approximately 650 kilometres with fast hydrogen refuelling taking between 15 to 30 minutes.
“The Profia Z FCV on display will be equipped with the Level 4 autonomous driving feature, which means the heavy-duty truck is capable of full driverless operation under specific conditions,” Petrovski said.
Hino will also display its latest Dutro or 300 Series as it is known here, with the light-duty Z EV version of the truck, which is scheduled to be release mid next year.
“The ultra-low floor and walk-through layout of the Dutro Z EV has proven popular with customers in Japan since its release in June 2022, and the new model will feature larger battery capacity that will increase the distance between charges,” said Petrovski.
Hino says that the Dutro Z EV is currently undergoing trials in Australia to ascertain its operational suitability for the unique Australian market requirements.
The first public exhibition at the Japan Mobility Show of the updated medium-duty Ranger, or 500 Series as we know it, will be of particular interest to the Australian truck market .
“The 500 Series Standard Cab is a proven solution in the Australian market and we look forward to the Euro 6-compliant version in Australia in mid-2026,” Petrovski said.
Hino says its stand will also feature the Team Sugawara’s Dakar Rally “Little Monster” race truck from 2019, which is based on the medium-duty 500 Series model.
“Successfully completing 34 gruelling Dakar Rallies demonstrates the QDR or quality, durability and reliability that Hino is renowned for,” said Petrovski.
Hno added that another vehicle on display will be the “Poncho dot” concept vehicle based on the Dutro Z EV. The compact size of the Poncho dot is said to aid drivability, while a unique layout means it’s capable of transporting both people and goods together.
Outside the main exhibition hall, show-goers will also be able to see other unique applications of the Hino Dutro Z EV including a mobile office.
