HINO STRETCHES THE 700

Hino has expanded its heavy duty 700 Series range announcing that it has added a long wheelbase version of the FS 2848 6×4 model.

“We have developed this truck at the specific request of our customers – it is suitable for any number of applications from general farm duties or cattle trucks to a 14 pallet rigid freight truck or a flat tray with a rear-mounted crane,” said Daniel Petrovski, Hino Australia’s manager of product strategy.

Hino says the new long wheelbase variant is fitted with the Euro 5 Hino E13C 12.9 litre six-cylinder turbo-charged diesel engine, producing 480hp and 2157 Nm of torque mated to the ZF TraXon 2441TO 16 speed AMT.

“It is the overdrive version and includes the standard fitment of the ZF transmission intarder that provides up to 3200 Nm of auxiliary braking,” said Daniel Petrovski.

Named the FS 2848 AMT AIR 6267, the new variant rides on a combination of long taper leaf suspension on the steer axle and Hendrickson HAS 460 air suspension on the drive axles.

Hino says that adding to the truck’s appeal is the all-new Hino smart Multimedia System, which includes standard reversing camera, and an unprecedented level of vehicle connectivity and entertainment possibilities through its Android-based 6.5’’ multi-touch digital screen with AM/FM/DAB+ digital radio, Wi-Fi connectivity, and the latest version of Bluetooth tethering which enables enhanced call handling, and improved speech to text functionality.

The company says  that other features include a curated Hino application store and an optional truck-specific GPS navigation system, a standard reverse camera, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), a driver’s SRS airbag, ADR84/00 compliant Front Underrun Protection (FUP) and electrically operated & heated rear view mirrors.

“With the availability of a factory-built long wheelbase FS 2848 variant, the 700 Series is now a viable solution for customers seeking a higher horse-powered long wheelbase rigid truck,” concluded Mr Petrovski.
