O’CONNELL DEPARTS MACK AFTER 20 YEARS WITH VOLVO GROUP

Mack Trucks Australia and Oceania  is looking for a new boss following the sudden resignation of its vice president for sales and marketing Tony O’Connell.

The news of O’Connell’s departure from the Volvo Group came as a shock to observers as word spread across the industry that the long serving employee of the Group had left after more than two decades with the Swedish truck making organisation.

Truck and Bus News quizzed Volvo Group when news of O’Connells departure reached us on Thursday, with the organisation’s PR manager issuing a brief official statement following our inquiry.

The statement said: “Tony O’Connell has resigned from his role as Vice President, Mack Trucks Sales and Marketing, Australia and Oceania.

Tony has been part of the Volvo Group family for more than two decades, holding a variety of roles across the business, predominantly within sales and marketing.

Volvo Group Australia acknowledges Tony’s significant contribution to the organisation and the Mack Trucks brand during his long tenure and wishes him well for the future.

Recruitment for the vice president, Mack Trucks Sales and Marketing, Australia and Oceania role is currently underway.

The statement from Volvo concluded by saying that Paul Illmer, vice president, sales support and business development, will assume responsibility for Mack Trucks Australia in an acting capacity in the interim.”
