ISUZU AND GM PART WAYS

Fresh off announcing a new partnership with Mazda, Isuzu has confirmed its agreement with GM will come to a close after 10 years.

In Australia GM Holden’s Colorado and Isuzu’s D-Max use a common architecture, however it is expected the next generation Colorado will be the same as the US model.

Both brands admitted they were taking different directions for their next generation of mid-sized utes.

“The direction each company wanted to take was changing,” said a spokesperson from Isuzu.

“Both GM and Isuzu agree that due to unique requirements for each company, joint development of the next-generation midsize pick-up truck for (GM) markets is no longer the optimal model for this project,” a statement from GM read.

It is expected Mazda’s long-standing partnership with Ford, which sees a number of component shared between Ranger, the BT-50 and its predecessor.
