ISUZU’S NEW MD READIES FOR NEXT STAGE

Isuzu Australia’s new managing director and CEO Hiroko Yaguchi says she’s prepared for her tenure at the helm of the market leader.

Yaguchi formally took over from Hiroshi Nishizaka in June and brings years of experience with Isuzu Motors Japan to the role.

“I am familiar with the Australian market and operations from my role as General Manager of the International Sales Department which has responsibility for a broad range of international markets including Australia, New Zealand, the United States of America, and Europe, including Turkey and Russia,” Yaguchi said.

“I held this position since early 2016, and before that was Manager of overseas sales for Central America and the Caribbean for 10 years and then Southwest Asia for five years.

“Prior to this, I held a number of positions in other overseas markets including Panama, Taiwan, Latin America and Europe, and in the more than 30 year career I have spent with Isuzu, I have been fortunate to visit over 40 countries in the course of my work.

“It’s this understanding of the broader Isuzu organisation – and the unique requirements that each individual market has – that will assist me in working with the talented team here in Australia to continue the excellent effort and success that has been attained over many years.”

Director and COO at Isuzu Australia, Phil Taylor said she has a strong understanding of the Australian arm of the business already.

“Yaguchi-san attended the recent Brisbane Truck Show to meet with some of IAL’s biggest customers, and completed a tour of the larger Isuzu dealers across the country to gain a detailed insight into IAL’s operations and how the company functions at the coalface,” Taylor said.

“Yaguchi-san also attended IAL’s National Dealer Meeting in Sydney earlier this year, presenting on behalf of Isuzu Motors and meeting a cross-section of the IAL dealer network.

“All of this has provided a comprehensive overview of the company and our industry-leading dealer network, and just how our products and services assist our customers in the successful running of their businesses.”

“We have a well-planned strategic direction and we’re looking forward to Yaguchi-san’s input and support for our collective efforts to remain Australia’s number one selling truck brand,” he added.

Yaguchi is looking forward to driving the company to three decades of consecutive market leadership.

“It’s an honour to be joining IAL at such an important time in the company’s history,” Ms Yaguchi said.

“We are fast approaching a very significant milestone in three decades of unbroken market leadership and I want to work with everyone here to ensure that we secure this achievement and many more years of success.

“All around the world there a many exciting developments in the technology both at the core and in support of road transport, and Isuzu is committed to delivering best-practice product across all its offerings.

“This, combined with the local market expertise, enviable track record and reputation for delivering the products and services that Australian companies require for their road transport needs provides the foundation for us to realise a bright future together,” Yaguchi said.
