ROBYN THOMSON APPOINTED AS VOLVO BUS CORPORATE AFFAIRS DIRECTOR FOR APAC

Volvo has announced the appointment of  Robyn Thomson to the role of director, corporate affairs for Volvo Bus Asia Pacific (APAC).

In her new role, Robyn Thomson will support all markets in Asia Pacific (APAC), including Australia, in government relations, lobbying, electric bus projects and tender support. This will include activities related to electro-mobility, connectivity and Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems.

While Robyn Thomson will play an integral part in APAC’s operations, her new role will also see her continuing to support Volvo Bus Australia, including supporting new team members as and when they join the team.

Robyn has been an invaluable member of the Volvo Bus Australia team, so we are very fortunate to have her continue to work alongside side us. Robyn will provide vital support to Volvo Bus Australia and will be a key facilitator in upcoming projects. Her new role will ultimately see Volvo Bus Australia expanding its team and resources in order to optimise service offerings and efficiency,” says Lauren Downs, general manager Volvo Bus Australia.

Robyn Thomson’s experience in the area of government relations, tendering and major account management will provide excellent support to the markets across the APAC region. In recent years she has held multiple roles in Asia Pacific including General Manager – Region Thailand, Director Commercial Development – APAC and National Major Accounts Manager – Volvo Bus Australia.

Volvo’s statement said that prior to joining Volvo, Robyn’s experience working in buying and selling assets to the Australian Federal Government means she has a deep understanding of the importance of government relations in the transport industry. Her previous engagement with Business Sweden and various embassies in the APAC region is also key to our work in many APAC markets.

“We are looking forward to having Robyn Thomson join the APAC team as director, corporate affairs,” says David Mead, Vice President Volvo Group Asia Pacific.

“Robyn has a strong history of managing major accounts, maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and providing strategic business support. Her extensive knowledge and experience in the industry makes her a great asset to the Volvo Bus organisation as she services the Asian and Australian market,” said Mead.

Robyn will continue in her current role in the Volvo Bus Australian team until a replacement is announced. After that point Robyn will continue to play a large role supporting the Major Accounts team in Australia and remain involved in a number of key projects in the Australian market as part of her new responsibilities.
