Leading Adelaide public transport provider, Torrens Transit has announced it has raised and donated a total of $34,035 to support vulnerable South Australians, following its special 25th Anniversary annual dinner event.
Torrens Transit says the milestone dinner was held to recognise the dedication of its outstanding team and says it reinforces its commitment to enhancing the liveability of the communities it serves.
Torrens Transit, thanks to the generosity of its team and supporters, raised approximately $17,000 through fundraising activities on the night, which Torrens Transit matched dollar-for-dollar, bringing the total contribution to over $34,000, reflecting what it describes as its ‘deep community commitment’,
Managing director of Torrens Transit, Andrew Jenksinson said the total funds raised were shared evenly between two vital local organisations: Lutheran Care and Catherine House.
“Torrens Transit is more than just a bus operator, we are deeply committed to the sustainability and liveability of the communities we connect, ” Jenkinson said.
“We are incredibly grateful for the hard work of our team and supporters whose generosity allowed us to contribute to the vital programs run by both Lutheran Care and Catherine House,” he added.
“We are privileged to play a role in strengthening their impact, especially in the face of ongoing cost-of-living and housing pressures,” he said.
Torrens Transit says that the donation will directly support Lutheran Care’s integral services, including emergency relief and ongoing support referrals, as well as the crucial work Catherine House does in providing accommodation and support for women experiencing homelessness.
