VOLVO INKS MAJOR DEAL WITH CAMERON GROUP

Just a few weeks after Daimler announced it had ‘turned’ long time Volvo customer, Nolans, with the sale of some Mercedes-Benz Actros prime movers, Volvo has announced it had inked a significant deal with the Glen Cameron Group Logistics division, for a total order of 20 Volvo FM11 prime movers.

The new Volvo’s have been purchased by Camerons for operations delivering products through the Greater Sydney area for Woolworths Primary Connect.

The new Cameron Volvo FM11s use Euro 6 spec 11 litre, 460hp engines, coupled to Volvo’s 12-speed I-Shift automated transmission.

“The FM has long been a staple part of our fleet,” says Shane Coates, group asset manager, for Glen Cameron Group.

“The improvements made in terms of visibility, noise and ride and accessibility have only served to increase the appeal of this truck across the differing applications we put it into.”

“It’s a safe, versatile and efficient truck that can fill a lot of roles and it’s always delivered for our business,” he continued.

Volvo Group Australia key account manager, Frank Dumay said he was very impressed with the new FM when it launched earlier this year.

“A 10 per cent improvement in visibility over the old model, the addition of a blind spot camera and easier cab access make the Volvo FM a safe bet for drivers and other road users alike,”  said Dumay

“The new digital instrumentation, a touch screen entertainment unit and dash mounted transmission control make for a really classy workplace. It’s a great office for a shift behind the wheel,” he added.

Vice President  of Volvo Trucks Australia, Gary Bone,  said it also marked the arrival of the new range FM prime movers,

“There’s no doubt the FM is a great solution for a lot of our customers. However, it’s the efforts of our wider network and the efforts of our own people that really back up the nuts and bolts that make up a truck,”  said Gary Bone.

“Our Key Account Managers work tirelessly to find the best outcome for longstanding customers like the Glen Cameron Group, whether that be finding innovative service agreement or financing solutions or helping them harness the power of their fleet data and utilization,”  said Bone.

“It’s a fantastic truck, but it’s the people behind it that make the difference.”
