WASTE WATCHERS – MERCEDES TO SHOW ITS eECONIC BATTERY ELECTRIC WASTE TRUCK AT SYDNEY REGEN EXPO

Mercedes-Benz has announced that it will show an all-electric eEconic waste and recycling collection truck at this year’s ReGen Expo in Sydney, starting tomorrow 24 July and concluding on Thursday 25 July 24.

Mercedes-Benz said it will present it eEconic, which it claims is the most advanced electric truck of its kind available in Australia and which it tells us,  produces ‘zero exhaust emissions and operates in near silence’.

The  company says  its electric eEconic adds to  what it says are the already impressive advantages of the diesel Econic.

Mercedes says it developed the eEconic from the start as a city-friendly waste and recycling truck, rather than as a modified general purpose truck. Mercedes added that  the Econic is known for its ‘excellent visibility, practicality and active safety features’.

The company says the  eEconic uses much of the same electric architecture as the Mercedes-Benz Trucks eActros, which is also sold by the company in Australia.

This year, Mercedes-Benz says it will show the latest version of the 6×2 eEconic, which features dual wheels on the rear axles for better weight distribution.

Daimler Truck righty claims to be an electric transport leader in Australia and claims to be the the first manufacturer to launch an all-electric truck, introducing the  Fuso  eCanter locally in 2021.

Thanks he sales and marketing vice president for Mercedes-Benz Trucks Australia Pacific, Andrew Assimo, said the eEconic will be a highlight of the ReGen Expo event.

“The Mercedes-Benz eEconic is the perfect choice for collecting waste and recycling day in and day out while producing zero exhaust emissions,”  Assimo said..

“It is the most advanced electric waste and recycling truck available in Australia backed by a trusted manufacturer and supported by the Daimler Truck dealership network,”   he added.

Mercedes-Benz’ claim to be leading the way with battery electric technology,  and added that it is also proud to help traditional internal combustion engine customers drive down emissions.

The company points out that it introduced the first full range of Euro 6 heavy trucks in Australia with its new Actros in 2016 which it says offered  remarkable fuel efficiency  and is renowned across the industry.
