FEDEX ANNOUNCES NEW BOSS IN OUR NECK OF THE WOODS

Leading global parcel delivery company, FedEx, or the Federal Express Corporation to give it its proper name (has announced the appointment of a new president for its Asia Pacific (APAC) region,

The company which claims to be one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, has announced that Salil Chari has taken the role of regional president effective on 1st January.

Chari, previously the senior vice president of marketing and customer experience for FedEx in APAC, succeeds Kawal Preet, who has moved to a new role as executive vice president for planning, engineering, and transformation.

According to the company, Chari, as regional president will be responsible for shaping strategic direction of the business and leading a team of close to 30,000 across the APAC region  and  to drive profitable growth, as well as “delivering outstanding customer experiences, and advance operational excellence throughout the region.”

Fedex’s chief operating officer for international and chief executive officer for airline, Richard Smith,  said he was excited to welcome Chari as the new president of Asia Pacific.

This marks an exciting new chapter for our APAC business,” Smith said .

“Salil brings exceptional multi-regional leadership experience and a passion for delivering value to customers, and with his deep understanding of the region, I’m confident he will lead our APAC business to new heights and reinforce the region’s importance to our global growth,” he added.

“Thanks to Kawal for her exceptional leadership; and she will continue to advance our global transformation efforts,” he said.

FedEx said in its statement that Chari exemplifies the company’s  long-standing practice of nurturing talent from within.

Chari began his FedEx career in 1997 as a marketing analyst at its Memphis. operation in the U.S., and through successive leadership roles across Latin America and the Caribbean, the Asia Pacific and Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, and Africa, with the company praising him for demonstrating a deep commitment to elevating customer experience and empowering businesses to expand their global reach and capture new market opportunities.
