ISUZU CELEBRATES ANOTHER MARKET LANDMARK WITH 37TH STRAIGHT YEAR ON TOP OF THE AUSSIE TRUCK MARKET

Isuzu has just celebrated another significant landmark milestone in  the year just passed, celebrating its 37th consecutive year as the market leader of the Australian truck industry.

The company says that 2025 proved  to be a landmark year for both Isuzu Australia  as well as  the broader heavy commercial vehicle industry in this country

Racking up 37 consecutive years of market leadership  for the company came off the back of the launch of the  total product makeover with its new MY25  range, while the industry introduced its new set of Australian Design Rules or ADRs which it says sets new safety and emissions benchmarks for Australia’s truck fleet

“2025 was always forecast to be a significant year for Isuzu in Australia,” said Isuzu Australia’s director and chief operating officer,  Andrew Harbison.

“The introduction of the new ADRs was the trigger for the launch of our all-new MY25 truck range in Australia and for Isuzu, this was a once in a generation model release,” Harbison said.

“With our record atop the Australian truck sales race extending back to 1989, there’s a lot of pressure and expectation with every product we bring to market, and our brand tagline, ‘Reliability is Everything’ sets a very public standard that we must ensure all our products live up to,” he added.

“We’ve brought over 200 models from our latest MY25 truck range to market all told over the past 12 months, spanning the light, medium and heavy-duty weight segments, and to see these trucks represented in another year of sales leadership for Isuzu is a proud moment for Isuzu Australia  and the dealer network.”

Isuzu clinched its 37th consecutive year of market leadership with total sales of 12,420 units by the close of 2025.

The brand managed to improve its already Impressively market share to  claim 27.5 per cent in a total overall market that actually declined last year.

“Once again, over one in four new trucks rolling out of dealerships Australia-wide bore the iconic Isuzu chrome badge in 2025,” said  Isuzu Australia’s head of sales, Craig White.

“It’s been an absolutely huge year for us, starting with our dealer and customer launch of our new range back in March, which was hotly followed by our grand public unveiling and display at the 2025 Brisbane Truck Show,” said White

“The real test of course was the start of sales in the second half of the year – the interest from across the industry that we had in the lead up to this gave us great confidence and the numbers have borne this out,”  he said.

The 2025 truck market saw total sales of 45,191 trucks, which was  a decline of 12 per cent on the 2024 numbers.

All three  truck market segments recorded  lower volumes than in  2024,  with the heavy truck segment representing the largest ratio of total truck sales.

As well as being overall market leader, Isuzu held top spot in the light-duty segment registering 6,941 trucks, giving the brand  a two per cent volume increase on  its 2024 results, despite the overall light duty segment being down six per cent on the 2024 market.

In light  duty Isuzu sold one in two of every truck registered in the sector, claiming a  share of 50.6 per cent in the segment, which was also an all-time record for the brand.

Isuzu also secured top spot in the medium-duty segment with  an almost equally impressive 49 per cent share of the segment with 3,267 registration .

Isuzu also posted an impressive  performance in the heavy sector making 2,221 deliveries to  claim a 15.5 per cent share in what was a close fought battle with long time heavy duty stalwart  Volvo, with Isuzu finishing a close third in the heavy sector

“The team at Isuzu Australia and the Isuzu Dealer Network has another packed year ahead of it as we move into the next phase of growth for the brand,” said Harbison.

“Competition gets tighter and tighter; the operating environment continues to grow in complexity and our customers’ demands evolve with technological and industry requirements,” he added.

“We’re thrilled to be bringing new products and services to market, designed to assist and support our customers as partners in their heavy commercial vehicle needs,” he said.

Craig White said that the Isuzu dealer network must be recognised for its pre-eminence in the Australian truck market.

“Isuzu’s proud history in Australia stretches back over 50 years and many of our dealers have been a part of the journey since day one,” said White.

“All Isuzu truck operators can be assured that their local Isuzu dealer will provide the same peerless customer support and industry nous that has seen Isuzu achieve this remarkable record, as this approach underpins our future success,” he concluded.
