RIP KENWORTH KING

Australia has lost another industry icon with the death of Ed Cameron.

Cameron was responsible for bringing the Kenworth brand to Australia with the S-model in the early 1960s.

Following World War II, Cameron and brother Don expanded the family transport business, but was underwhelmed by the truck models on the Australian market.

The pair turned to Kenworth for better reliability, more power and increased braking capacities.

Cameron imported and sold 100 prime-movers before Kenworth USA bought his business and established Australian manufacturing in the 1960s.

He was inducted into the National Road Transport Hall of Fame in 2002.
