Volvo Truck Australia has helped the well known not for profit charity Foodbank celebrate its first year of operating the Volvo FH12 that the Swedish truck maker donated to the organisation back in 2025.
Foodbank has been operating the Volvo prime mover along with a Vawdrey trailer around country areas and says that it has been hard at work during its first 12 months supporting regional communities, as well as responding to natural disasters and delivering vital food relief across NSW and the ACT.
The Volvo FH ISave prime mover along with a Vawdrey refrigerated trailer have travelled nearly 15,000 kilometres, collecting and delivering food, supporting Fresh Food Pop-ups and emergency relief operations, while transporting nutritious fresh produce to people doing it tough since joining the Foodbank NSW and ACT fleet last year, .
Volvo Trucks said it is proud to support Foodbank NSW and ACT’s mission to get more food to more people, more efficiently at a time when demand for food relief has increased by 40 per cent.
Volvo tells us that the dedicated truck and trailer have increased Foodbank’s capacity to collect and distribute food, reducing reliance on outsourced freight and extending its reach across regional and remote communities.
Volvo Trucks and Foodbank NSW and ACT have together helped collect and deliver more than 1,000 tonnes of food and fresh produce, distributing more than 2.1 million meals through a network of more than 700 community partners and transporting fresh fruit and vegetables as part of their school breakfast programs, helping ensure students can have the best start to their day.
According to Volvo and Foodbank, this partnership demonstrates the power of working together to support families, strengthen communities and ensure good food reaches the people who need it most, with one in three households across NSW and the ACT experiencing food insecurity.
.“It’s fantastic to see the work Foodbank NSW & ACT carries out every day,” said Volvo Trucks Australia’s vice president of sales and marketing, Tom Chapman.
“Food insecurity has far-reaching impacts across our communities, and knowing this combination is helping Foodbank deliver nutritious food to families and reach communities in need makes us incredibly proud,” said Chapman.
The CEO of Foodbank NSW and ACT, Samantha Prescott said that over the past 12 months, Volvo Trucks has been a valued partner in our fight against hunger, helping strengthen the transport and logistics network and reach more people in need.
“The prime mover has increased our capacity to deliver fresh food across NSW and the ACT at a time when demand for food relief remains at record levels,” Prescott said.
