EMERY NEW BOSS OF TRUCK INDUSTRY COUNCIL

It’s been announced that Hino Australia boss, Richard Emery, has been elected as the new president of the Truck Industry Council (TIC) at the industry lobby group’s  annual general meeting in Canberralast week.

Emery succeeds his opposite number at market leader isuzu, Andrew Harbison, who will take on the role of co-vice president of TIC along with Volvo Australia vice president Tom Chapman.

Apart from heading up Hino Australia, Emery has held senior roles across the automotive sector in Australia and South East Asia across the last four decades with experience across a range of brands and markets and was previously  a director of the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries and chair of the Importers Group.

TIC is the peak industry body representing most truck OEMs, importers and distributors in Australia and the Council claims its members, continue to work with government, regulators and stakeholders from across the industry to drive toward sector outcomes that meet the demands and expectations of society.

New president Emery  said he was pleased to step in to the role and continue to build on the approach taken by Andrew Harbisson over the last years..

“The truck industry is dynamic and continuing to evolve to meet the various challenges of today’s freight task,” Emery said.

TIC has proclaimed that it updated its national truck plan policy late last year, which it says is designed to deliver Australia with a safer, cleaner, greener, more efficient, modern truck fleet, which was pretty similar to the outlook the previous plan promised.

As part of its message TIC says that it continues to advocate for the plan with interested parties and key stakeholders.

“Beyond the Truck Plan, we will work to provide valuable input to the Government regarding the pressing need for a balanced Road User Charge in the future,” Emery added.
