
Global logistics giant, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has opened a new, state-of-the-art contract logistics center in Melbourne’s western suburbs at Truganina, which has doubled the company’s its warehouse capacity in the Melbourne metro area and says it further expands its market position in the Asia-Pacific region
Hellmann says its new site is sustainable and is a strategic step on its international growth path that says that it expands its capacity to further enhance its customer service to deliver an even broader portfolio of logistics solutions to existing and potential customers
Hellmann says it has been operating from its own location in Australia since 1987 and expanded its presence down under just a year later with another operation in New Zealand.
The global logistics provider class to offers “comprehensive full-service logistics solutions along the entire supply chain” from a total of seven locations in Australia and New Zealand.
The company operates logistics hubs in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, and Darwin, as well as inAuckland and Christchurch across the ditch.
Hellmann says it is underlining its role as an international logistics partner for customised, digital, and sustainable supply chain solutions with this strong presence in the fast-growing Asia-Pacific region,
Hellmann said that in addition, the new multi-user site provides flexible and scalable logistics solutions for customers from various industries, including automotive, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, food and beverages, and other consumer goods.
The new warehouse and inventory management systems cover an area of around 19,000 squaree metres with 18,000 pallet spaces, while it says the the site offers ideal conditions for efficient logistics processes.
Hellmann says it has positioned the new facility with a convenient location offering direct access to the West Gate Tunnel, which it claims enables quick connections to key economic areas around Greater Melbourne, Port Melbourne, and the central business district of the city.
The company claims the new centre offers a decisive competitive advantage, especially with regard to time-critical supply chains.
Hellmann says that the range of services the new centre offers include its entire portfolio of contract logistics: from goods receipt, warehousing, and inventory management to order picking, various value-added services such as repacking, labelling, or shrink-wrapping, as well as goods dispatch, transport management, and returns processing.
Hellmann says its new location in Melbourne makes a clear statement of its commitment to sustainability, with the facility aiming for something called a “5-star Green Star As-Built certification”, what ever that means.
Hellmann did explain that the facility is fitted with environmentally friendly equipment, including a 200 kW solar system, 30,000-litre rainwater tanks, and ten charging stations for electric vehicles, all measures the company says underlines its ecological commitment.
Mark Fitzpatrick, Hellmann’s regional COO for ontract logistics in APAC says that with the new site in the Melbourne metropolitan area, it i strengthening its presence in Australia and creating the foundation for even more flexible and efficient logistics solutions .

Volker Sauerborn, Hellmann’s global COO for contract logistics said the opening of the new contract logistics centre is another milestone on the way to offering innovative and sustainable logistics solutions worldwide.
