The Volkswagen controlled global truck maker Triton Group has revealed that ut has a slow start to 2026  reporting  preliminary data, that indicates the company suffered a six per cent reduction  on the same quarter in 2025.

Traton delivered a total of 68,600 vehicles globally across all the Traton brands in the first quarter but the company did report by  contrast, a 38 per cent increase in  unit sales of all electric vehicles.

Triton’s lead brand, Scania suffered a drop of six per cent for the first quarter of 2026  compared with the prior-year quarter, indicating the Swedish brand was weighed down by a sharp decline in unit sales particularly in Brazil.

Traton’s German brand MAN Truck and Bus  was one of the brighter results in the group registering an uptick in unit sales of 14 per cent, on the back of healthy European order activity in recent months, compared to a relatively weak prior-year quarter.

The Group’s US truck operations through its International brand saw unit sales decrease by roughly 20 per cent over the prior-year quarter, although Traton says that the US market has recently shown encouraging signs of an upturn in customer demand, this has not yet had an impact on unit sales.

Meanwhile its Volkswagen Truck and Bus registered a  20 per cent drop in its vehicles in the first quarter compared with last year due to a persistently difficult market situation in South America, which has been the operations strongest market.

The Traton Group is due to publish its 2026 Interim Statement on 29 April and it will be available here: https://ir.traton.com/en/publications/
