Newly unveiled Chinese entrant into the Australian truck market, DFAC has announced that it has partnered with a leading Australian supplier to provide aluminium truck bodies for its Captain 45 model light trucks that are set to hit Australian roads I’m the coming months.
DFAC said that it has linked up with Wel known fabricator MW Manufacturing to supply alloy trays for its WorkReady variants of the Captain 45
The company pointed out that it had the high demands of Australian tradespeople firmly in mind when it chose the MW built alloy trays for its WorkReady models.
It said that the WorkReady alloy tray had undergone a range of evaluation processes including direct input from Australian stakeholders including dealers, operational specialists and local customers and has been designed in conjunction with DFAC in Australia with support from the DFAC factory in China .
DFAC said that the Australian designed and assembled WorkReady Alloy Tray includes key features such as ladder racks, wash station, strengthened headboard with DFAC logo and uniformly distributed three-tonne load rating, including 200kg across all three ladders racks.
The company has given alloy tray the same 7-Year/250,000kms warranty coverage as the truck’s chassis which it sits on.
DFAC has launched the truck into the Australian market with a car licence compatible 4.5-tonne GVM along with its WorkReady alloy tray package at the introductory price of $59,990 drive-away.
“The DFAC models being brought into the country have been fully developed for Australian conditions and local customer needs; including the Alloy Tray through our partnership with MW Manufacturing,” said Nathan James, DFAC Trucks Australia’s business and network development manager.

“DFAC Truck Australia insisted on working with local experts in the field of bodies and accessories, and with MW’s shared enthusiasm we have brought to market a package that benefits customer operations,” James said.
DFAC says that MW Manufacturing builds in excess of 100,000 products per year and has three factories and two workshops in Australia as well as separate steel and aluminium factories in China, and was established in 1999 .
“Working with such a large OEM like DFAC Truck has brought out the best in our team at MW Toolbox,” said MW Manufacturing’s Tao Zhang .
“Our manufacturing process and delivery of the traybacks will ensure trucks will not be sitting idle waiting on bodybuilds.
“The enthusiasm in this partnership has seen us collectively develop the trayback with end users benefiting from a fully integrated truck,” Tao said.
DFAC claims its models come with a range of standard features, all of which it says have have been taken into consideration with the design and fitment of the alloy tray.
“This alloy tray has been fully designed for the Captain 45 to ensure not only the best in operational requirements demanded by customers, but also works in conjunction with all safety systems of the vehicle,” said James.
“In the 18 month design and evaluation process our team worked closely with MW on the initial design.
“Collectively we insisted on further input from key stakeholders and then applied those combined learnings for the final version that we have available on the WorkReady alloy tray.
“With a tray space of 4.5m x 2m it really is part of the DFAC way of bringing to market a smart option for operators,” James said.
TRhe DFAC Captain 45 is powered by a 2.5 litre turbo-diesel Cummins engine, which produces 121 kW along with maximum torque of 400 Nm.
DFAC has said that the Captain 45’s GVM of 4.5-tonnes is upgradable to six-tonnes on a light rigid licence, while pointing out that the wheelbase of 3300mm sits in a popular segment for owner/operators through to fleet operators.
the company also pointed out that as well as its 4.5-tonne GVM the Captain 45 range features a 3.5 tonne tow rating of 3.5-tonnes, enabling trades people and large fleets can use it for a variety of applications.
The truck also features driver and passenger airbags, high-resolution reverse camera and parking sensor, adaptive cruise control, smart phone mirroring, multi-function steering wheel, LCD instrument panel and a large-scale 13” infotainment screen all as standard equipment.
DFAC Trucks currently operates from seven sites under the distribution of the KRW Motor Group , with the company boasting an additional 18 locations as DFAC customer service centres across the country.
