Volkswagen Australia’s Commercial Vehicle division has announced that it is reinforcing its commitment to Australian businesses with what it is describing as a compelling BOFY or beginning of financial year offer on its Crafter Runner model which will be available nationally for a starting price from $59,990 drive-away*.
Volkswagen says that its Crafter Runner has been designed around three core principles, which are simplicity, value and practicality, and the com[ny says that it offers a more accessible entry point into its largest van range in ts Commercial Vehicles’ offering and that it doesn’t compromise the capabilities businesses depend on.
he Crafter Runner has an manufacturers recommended retail price of $66,990, which represents a $5,610 saving compared with the standard Crafter 35 MWB Van TDI360, which the company claims creates a more accessible entry point into the range.
However VW says that the Crafter Runner is currently available at a drive-away price of $59,990*, making it the company’s large van offering even more attainable for Australian businesses.
The Runner will be available exclusively as a Crafter 35 Medium Wheelbase Runner Van TDI360 with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, and the company says it is designed to deliver the core capability Australian businesses need in a focused, value-driven package.

“Our Runner variants are designed around what many Australian businesses tell us they need most: capability, practicality and value,” said Nathan Johnson, Volkswagen Australia’s director of commercial vehicles.
“The Crafter Runner retains the capability, functionality and reliability that Australian businesses expect from Crafter, while offering a more accessible entry point into the range,” said Johnson.
The Crafter Runner retains the same proven platform and drivetrain as the broader Crafter range, providing businesses with the functionality and versatility required for everyday operations.
The front-wheel drive Crafter runner boasts a 9.9 cubic metre cargo volume including space for four Euro pallets and with a maximum payload of up to 1,362kg.
The van has a sliding side door with 1,311mm opening width and a low 570mm loading sill height.
The Runner also boasts a 2,500kg braked towing capacity and the cockpit features leatherette seat trim, while there is a cargo partition and a fixed window and grille.
There s also a large 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless App-Connect, full Digital Cockpit Pro and a leather multi-function steering wheel.
Like other Crafters in the Volkswagen range, Crafter Runner also offers the comprehensive suite of driver assistance and safety technologies, including front assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking, Lane Assist, Side Assist with Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear View Camera, Front and rear parking sensors, Cross Wind Assist, Attention and Drowsiness Assist, Blind Spot Monitor on both sides and Moving-off Information System
Together, these technologies help support drivers through demanding working days, whether operating in busy urban environments or on longer regional journeys.
Volkswagen claims that the Crafter van range features five configurations across MWB, LWB and LWO wheelbases, and can be had with wither the TDI360 or TDI410 turbo diesel engines, and in both front-wheel drive, rear-wheel drive and 4MOTION options, all paired with the eight-speed automatic transmission.
The company says that the Crafter range is available in 35 (3.55t), 50 (4.49t) and 55 (5.50t) GVM ratings, and delivers a broad choice of payload and driveline solutions for Australian businesses.
