FUSO’S NEW WARRIOR TO LAUNCH IN BRISBANE

Fuso has announced it will launch its new gen heavy duty truck code named ‘Black Panther’ at the Brisbane Truck Show in May .

While the Fuso Heavy is known as Super Great in Japan, Daimler Trucks in Australia has wisely chosen another name more befitting of its status as a Japanese ‘warrior‘ and will announce its new moniker at the Brisbane Show.

Fuso has had the new truck in a targeted test and development program on Australian roads for some months and T&B News has already reported on our limited drive of the new big Fuso on the Hume recently.

The big Fuso will be powered by a new 10.7-litre six-cylinder turbo diesel from the Daimler family of engines e using the German giant’s latest technology and will be paired with Daimler’s 12-speed A/MT.

Fuso Truck and Bus Australia, Director, Justin Whitford, says the arrival of the new generation heavy duty truck marks a new chapter for the brand.

“We have listened to our Australian customers and we have delivered the heavy duty truck they have been waiting for,” Mr Whitford says.

“Anyone who has driven one of our test trucks has come out raving about the refinement, the comfort and performance as well as the world-class safety features. It is a cutting edge truck that will save our customers money and we know they are going to love it.”

He says Fuso is in the enviable position of being able to benefit from the Daimler Trucks world of leading engineering technology.

‘Fuso has been able to leverage the global engineering strength of Daimler to deliver the best safety technology, the best performance, economy and comfort to our Australian customers,” he says.

Fuso will also display models from its existing model line-up including the medium duty Fighter and small Canter truck.

The Brisbane Truck Show will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from 16 to 19 May .
