SHOGUN – DON’T SPARE THE HORSES AS FUSO SHOWCASE NEW TOP HORSEPOWER FLAGSHIP MODEL IN BRISBANE

Daimler owned Japanese truck maker, Fuso used  the recent Brisbane Truck Show to reveal a new 530hp version of its flagship Shogun heavy duty model, which it claims will break its own record for the most powerful Japanese truck in Australia.

Fuso says that the new Shogun 530 will introduce a new cab design and an even more potent 13-litre engine when it goes on sale late this year. with what it claims will bethe introduction of an even stronger truck.

The company pointed out that the previous model Shogun 510 was formerly, the most powerful Japanese truck in Australia, with its then 510hp maximum power, however with the new model the new model it showcased in Brisbane now producing a claimed 530hp and 2600Nm of torque, its status has been further cemented.

Fuso says that the new model Shogun range will also deliver other benefits, including new  in-cabin features and the latest generation active safety suite that the company claims now features  five radars for improved truck safety.

Daimler Truck Australia Pacific president and CEO, Daniel Whitehead said the Shogun 530 demonstrates Fuso’s leadership.

“Our rivals dream of having a truck like the 510hp Shogun, so it gives us great pleasure to bring our customers the 530hp Shogun,” Whitehead said.

“I have never heard anyone complain about having too much power, we know our customers are going to love this amazing truck,” Whitehead concluded.

Daimler Truck Australia Pacific vice president of sales, marketing and operations, Andrew Assimo said the new Shogun range delivers practical improvements.

“The existing Shogun has been extremely popular in Australia, but we listened to our customers and took the opportunity to introduce upgrades that would make it even better again,” Assimo  said.

“From increased GCM to new seats, headlights, an upgraded engine, new interior features and the latest Daimler Truck active safety technology, the new Shogun range is a formidable line up,” Assimo added.

Fuso also pointed out that the new Shogun 530 it launched in Brisbane will now boast a 70-tonne GCMrating,  which is up seven tonnes  from its former top GCM of 63-tonnes.

The company said that the  upgraded 13-litre 6R30 engine making its debut in the new Shogun, originated from its sibling Mercedes-Benz stable , but says it has been tweaked for its new role.

The twin turbo six-cylinder delivers 530hp, which is fed through its Daimler sourced 12-speed AMT, which it points out, also features an improved creep function.

Fuso says that all Shoguns feature a new-look cab, which it claims benefits from a “fresh modern look” along with brighter full-LED headlights

The company said that 11-litre  versions of the new Shoguns  also gets a new cloth ISRI driver’s seat  while the the flagship 13-litre 530 Shogun now gains a heated leather ISRI driver’s seat.

As part of the upgrades interior improvements include a new electronic park brake as well as a new key fob, which no longer needs to be inserted into an ignition barrel.

Fuso also says that the new truck features minor improvements to the interior trim, information cluster and multimedia unit, while it claims safety has been boosted with a new active Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS) that utilises a five radar system and a forward-facing camera.

The company says this also includes Active Brake Assist 6 as as well as Side Guard Assist 2.0, which it claims can warn of objects on both sides of the vehicle and can even brake the truck automatically on the left side of the vehicle when detecting a potential collision while turning in that direction.

Fuso also used the Brisbane Truck Show to feature the recently upgraded Canter range, which features a new look exterior design, incorporating brighter full-LED headlights and a fresh grille.

Fuso says the new upgradedCanter has been further improved on the inside with a new Multimedia touch screen that can connect wirelessly to both kinds of phones.

The company also displayed its facelifted Fuso FG 4×4 Canter, with this rugged 4×4 version Canter now featuring low range gearing and the ground clearance required to “get the job done off the beaten track”, the company claims.

On its Brisbane stand it also presented a Fuso Euro 6 Canter as well as an all-electric eCanter, which it claims is the most advanced electric truck in its class, saying it is the only one to feature an innovative eAxle, whichte company pointed out does away with a traditional driveshaft, instead  replacing it with an electric motor inside the rear axle of the truck.

Fuso also displayed three new medium duty Fighter Euro 6 Tipper models with the option of an Allison automatic transmission.
