The latest Actros ProCabin stands out because of its advanced aerodynamic design that Daimler claims has helped deliver fuel savings of up to three per cent in Europe.
Linfox has had a long term relationship with Daimler Truck’s spacing many decades to the very beginning of the company when Linfox founder, Lindsay Fox began the task of building the iconic transport company with his first 1418 Mercedes-Benz.
Daniel Whitehead, the president and CEO of Daimler Trucks Australia Pacific said the new truck is the perfect fit for Linfox.
“Linfox has a laser focus on safety and efficiency and the new Actros ProCabin delivers on both,” Whitehead said.
“The Actros ProCabin delivers a complete integrated safety suite that really sets the standard, as you would expect from Mercedes-
Benz. Its intelligent design and the subsequent efficiency gains and emissions reductions it delivers also align with Linfox’s commitment to sustainability,” Whitehead added.
Daimler Truck Australia Pacific’s vice president of sales, marketing and operations, Andrew Assimo, said the Actros ProCabin should excel in the Linfox fleet.
“We are thrilled to see the Mercedes-Benz ProCabin in the iconic Linfox colours,” Assimo said.
“Feedback from our first ProCabin customers indicates the smart design is delivering fuel improvements in the real world and we are excited to see this truck do the same for Linfox,” he added.
Daim let said that the new Linfox Actros ProCabin is equipped with a 13-litre six-cylinder engine that produces 530hp and is mated to a 12-speed AMT and Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC).
According to the company PPC uses satellite positioning and topographic data to tell the truck when it can safely coast and when to best change gears for optimum fuel efficiency.
The company also pointed out that all Actros models now feature an Active Brake Assist 6 Advanced Emergency Braking Systems safety package, which includes five radars providing a 270-degree view around the vehicle and allows for optimum operation of the Active Side Guard Assist 2 system.
The company said that the backbone of this safety suite is a new electronics platform that can process data 20 times faster.
Mercedes-Benz designers extended the front of the new Actros ProCabin by 80mm and then rounded off the face to reduce drag.
The ProCabin design also removes unwanted gaps and joints and guides air either around the cabin or straight into the truck’s cooling system. This concentration of the airflow maintains the cooling effectiveness of the Actros.
