NSW ROAD AND FREIGHT FORUM LAUNCHED

Road and Freight NSW will host its first forum in September as a new opportunity for operators to receive crucial information about issues facing the industry.

The forum will be held will be Wednesday 7 September at the Rooty Hill RSL in Sydney and will be opened by NSW Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight, Duncan Gay.

The day will also feature plenary sessions following throughout the day focusing around the changes to the General Contract Carriers Determination (GCCD); chain of responsibility and contract laws; technical advice and industry best practice.

According to Road Freight NSW General Manager Simon O’Hara said the forum will provide information on the impacts of new laws.

“This is a not to be missed event for all road freight operators in NSW, as attendees will receive critical updates about the road freight industry and find out about how upcoming changes to road and freight laws could affect your business,” O’Hara said.

“We will hear from industry experts and NSW policy makers on these vital topics, while networking with other road freight businesses.”

Three awards will also be presented at the forum:  Outstanding Contribution to the NSW Trucking Industry, NSW Professional Driver of the Year and NSW Transport Women of the Year.

“These prestigious awards recognise outstanding industry professionals operating in the road freight industry in NSW,” O’Hara said.

The winners will receive trophies, industry recognition and will be nominated for the 2017 National Trucking Industry Awards.
